Vila Maruta

The bathroom door wouldn't shut, the furniture creaked, the bedding seemed old, and the bathroom was a little neglected. Parking was another concern since it's on a narrow street, and when we asked about it, we were told arrogantly that nobody had asked before. We'd sent vacation vouchers ahead of time after speaking with a woman by phone, and had warned that we'd be delayed, but the owner's reaction was still awful. When we went to hand over the remaining vouchers, we felt like we were begging for charity. The owner's attitude really leaves a lot to be desired, even though he made a point of saying he was from Transylvania.

PATHETIC. The hygiene was beyond embarrassing, and the hospitality was bad enough that I don't know what to say. I had vouchers, but it felt like outright theft, and the meal at Vila Belvedere cost an exorbitant amount, maybe as some accounting move. Dessert was on the bill, but staff forgot it, then gave it to me as a takeaway package after the meal. I'd like to post photos of the conditions and that dessert. I can't describe the villa's hygiene properly. I fixed the shower myself, otherwise the next guests might have had water all over the bathroom. There's plenty more I could say, but I'll stop here.

La Măruță felt like a great place to come back to when I'm in Hateg. The owner seemed super nice and trustworthy, and the pension is a good fit if you're not too fussy. You can rest in your room, or make whatever you like outside, with everything you need at hand. I'd gladly stay again! 🥰

The restaurant food was good, but you can't always order what's shown on the menu. The villa owners showed very little hospitality, and there's a risk you won't get all the nights you booked. We even saw a case where the owner took a guest's luggage out of their room while they were away. We were unlucky enough to stay here ourselves. They do accept holiday vouchers, but I still can't recommend it. A disaster.
