The restaurant fits the setting well, with traditional Romanian food made carefully from good local ingredients. The dishes tasted authentic and full of flavor. Conacul Maldăr has a lovely, quiet atmosphere, with its old trees, traditional architecture, and countryside around it. The rooms and interiors have plenty of character too. Much of the furniture is original, or was carefully collected and recovered from historic manor houses in the region, which gives the place a real connection to Romania’s aristocratic past. The manor was built by the Maldăr family, a notable local family, in the early 20th century. Its restoration respected the building’s heritage and original charm while bringing it up to modern standards. Staying here feels like stepping back in time, with modern comfort and good service alongside the history and architecture.

The rooms have lovely, thoughtful decor inspired by the region’s past, and the beds were very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the bonfire outside and the fireplace indoors, along with the music and excellent food. The hosts were so welcoming, and the restaurant staff were friendly and kind. We had a wonderful two nights at Conacul Maldăr in Vâlcea and would gladly come back and recommend it to friends. Thank you!

The pool was lovely, clean, and refreshing, and there was plenty of tasty, traditional food with great flavor. It’s a wonderful traditional place to stay, with outstanding hospitality and service. Nothing seems like too much trouble. Definitely recommend it x
