Hotel Moldova

I stayed one night before moving to the main conference hotel. It’s an older-style place, but the room was great and had an amazing view from the front of the hotel. Breakfast was included and quite tasty. The staff were really helpful and lent me a charger converter until I could buy a replacement for the one that had burned out on my previous trip.

A really nice place in the city center, with easy access to everything you need for a great time in Iasi. The rooms are nice and clean. It’s close to the church of Sfanta Paraskeva and all the lovely spots in the old city. I’ll definitely be back.

I booked two nights in one of their best rooms, and the price was over £70. I expected a lot more. The room had clearly been cleaned, but the so-called “superior room” wasn’t as advertised: the furniture was very old and worn, both chairs were coming apart and rocked back and forth, and other pieces were scratched and poorly maintained. Customer service was awful and they seemed seriously understaffed, barely able to handle booking problems. The coffee maker didn’t work. I reported it to reception, waited 45 minutes for someone they said they’d send, then carried it down myself. I checked the restaurant menu and tried to order, but was told the food would take two hours because they were busy and short staffed too.

It’s very well located, just a few minutes’ walk from the main landmarks. There’s a spa and gym, and guest parking is public but free. I highly recommend it.
