The hosts made us feel at home right away, and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. At Resort Poiana Brazilor in Harghita, the stay gave us the authentic mountain experience we wanted, with comfort too. The traditional food was fresh, full of flavor, and outstanding. Having warm homemade dishes and grilling outdoors in the snow made it especially memorable.
The homemade fries were a standout, not frozen, which you don't often find these days. The servings were generous, and the atmosphere felt really nice and authentic. Try the potato soup with its traditional seasoning, then the main course with delicious homemade sour cabbage. That cabbage salad was fantastic, and packed with vitamin C.
A wonderful vacation spot in the heart of the Gyímesek, with amazing scenery and a real local feel. The comfortable country-style rooms and typical Csángó restaurant make it feel authentic. Breakfast is homemade and regional, and there are delicious options for lunch and dinner too. The owner and staff were friendly and very helpful.
We arrived at 11 on a Sunday with two small children and were turned away because the hosts had a group, even though breakfast time was over. There was no notice ahead of time. With the nearest restaurant 30 km away, that was a real letdown, especially with hungry kids. Making two scrambled eggs would have taken little effort and shown some goodwill.
We paragliders found the quiet valley location scenic and well placed for us. The staff spoke great English and were helpful, and the menu had a good range of choices. The food was excellent, made with local produce and cooked really well.
