Hostel Casino Mamaia

The shared kitchen had everything I needed to make meals, and the bathrooms and kitchen were kept tidy. The facilities were cleaned each day, and the whole place felt clean. I stayed three nights at Cazino Nord Hostel and felt right at home in its cozy, friendly atmosphere. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. There's a great view of Mamaia beach, and the hostel is in a lively area near public transport, with cafes, restaurants and shops all an easy walk away. The price was very reasonable for what was provided. One of the best hostels I've visited, with excellent value.

The rooms are small and poorly equipped for the price, with no air conditioning, fridge or TV. There's only a cheap little fan that barely works. Our room had two single beds but just one socket, so we had to buy an adapter ourselves to charge our phones and keep the fan running so we wouldn't overheat. The rooms have no sound insulation, and earplugs didn't make it easy to sleep with music playing for 16 hours every day in summer. There are better hostels and hotels nearby, so I'd tell people to avoid booking here.

The location is great and the room was acceptable, but I can't recommend the place. Towels aren't included in the price, and the ones they provided for an extra charge still had spots. The bed linen was stained too. Soap and shampoo aren't supplied, so you'll have to buy them elsewhere. In the morning, the maids make so much noise that sleeping becomes impossible. They wake you from 7 am.

The beach is right outside, and I especially recommend the ground-floor rooms. We stayed in an economy room and got more than we expected for the price. The facilities were good, though a bit run-down, and we've seen worse in places with much higher ratings. Staff were welcoming and took care of our needs. Shared spaces can get messy, as you'd expect, but the cleaning crew worked hard to keep them under control. Don't be discouraged by the negative reviews. Some people seem to expect a hotel rather than a hostel. If you understand hostel life and don't need hotel-level accommodation, this is one of the best options you can find. Highly recommend it.
