Hotel Malibu Mamaia

One of the best beaches for children in all Mamaia. The water is shallow, so it's child-friendly, and the staff are very friendly. There's a pool on the beach too ⛱️ I'd definitely recommend it.

Dana gave my partner and me excellent massages in the Spa. She was lovely to talk to, made sure we got the most out of the spa, and suggested a few quick exercises we could do at home to improve our posture. The staff were very helpful throughout, even though we only knew a few words in Romanian. We had an excellent stay. Mulțumesc to everyone there :)

The hotel looks beautiful and has luxurious facilities, but the service was so poor that I left dissatisfied. With the high price and reputation, I expected much more. Staff seemed indifferent from the moment I arrived. Basic requests took a long time and were met with dismissive attitudes, and the overall level of professionalism and attentiveness was disappointing. Housekeeping was inconsistent. After three days I pressed the cleaning button, but the ladies only changed the towels. I mentioned it, and the next day they changed the sheets too. Three days later, it happened again. It seemed like the room price only covered one set of sheets for the whole stay, even if you stayed a month. Breakfast was the same each day: scrambled eggs, sausages, eggs, a few boiled vegetables, one kind each day, and lots of processed food. I'd give it 3/5. Lunch was basically the same as breakfast, but without coffee, so 2.5/5, and all the food was really salty. The pool schedule starts at 8 o'clock, but that's when the staff begin cleaning and vacuuming, so if you're an early riser, don't rush there. Or go ahead and help them finish faster. The beach was like a big ashtray. The staff on duty complain when children leave toys scattered around, but don't seem to mind the rubbish. The sunbeds looked like someone had puked on them.

The rooms were fresh and clean, and the pool was nice, though you can't order snacks there. The bigger problem is the setting: the sea is ringed by artificial spits, so the water sits stagnant and isn't cleared of seaweed. You can't really swim there. Also, for a hotel costing $200 a night, having to wear a plastic wristband just to get breakfast seems strange. Imagine wearing one for two weeks or on a business trip.
