The facilities are old and the shower water pressure is weak. We also briefly lost electricity during a thunderstorm. On the plus side, the beach is a three-minute walk away, the location is good, and sunbeds are free. Our room had a side sea view, so you could see the beach from the balcony but not the sunrise.

We were a young couple and stayed at Solea Beach, Mamaia for 12 days in August 2017. It was the nicest vacation hotel we've stayed in, and we were very happy there. Mamaia was safer and cheaper than we expected and generally quite nice. We found lots to do, with beaches, beach bars, water sports, a few nightclubs, and an arcade. Loud gypsy music, or manele, in some places was the only notable disappointment. The hotel is right on the beach, close to attractions, mini markets, regular restaurants, and cheap self-service places. There are plenty of parking spaces in front, though it's easier to find a free one after 7 PM. Reception is open around the clock, and the staff speak English and are very nice. The rooms looked just like the online photos and were spotless, as was the rest of the hotel. Our room had modern furniture, a king-size bed with one mattress rather than two small ones pushed together, a small TV, a fridge with reasonably priced drinks, a nice shower bathroom, a mirror, wardrobe, safe, air conditioning, and reliable Wi-Fi. There were also curtains to darken the room during the day. The cleaning ladies came every day while we were out and even folded and arranged some laundry we'd left around, without disturbing us. The new windows blocked street noise really well. With the windows open, street-facing rooms can get loud, while sea-facing rooms may hear concerts from nearby restaurants. Closing the windows cuts the noise. The tiled floors meant we sometimes heard morning activity, and we could hear some noise from neighbors through the plasterboard walls, but it didn't bother us. We'd recommend the hotel to anyone after a good place at a decent price, away from the constantly noisy clubs up north.
