Vila Luminita

Breakfast was the one bright spot at Vila Luminita. The rest was a mess, with dirt, discomfort, poor management, and staff who didn’t seem qualified. I do not recommend it. We waited the whole day to check in, until 6:00 PM, then found rooms that hadn’t even been swept, vacuumed, or mopped. The bathrooms were very dirty, and the balconies were covered in mold and fungi. Some rooms even had mouse droppings. TVs didn’t work, doorbells were broken, and broken pipes left a bad sewer smell throughout the guesthouse. Cleaning only happened after complaints at reception, and the maids didn’t come to change towels or bring toilet paper. In the double-bed room, the bedding was for a single bed. The service was very poor. They also require you to have the full booking amount in your bank account, so if you book and then change your mind, they keep the money.

The location is good and has potential if they put a little money into it. As it was, though, the room was dusty, and nobody came the next day to clean, replace towels, or bring toilet paper. The terrace in the replacement room was filthy, covered in dirt and leaves. I arrived at 9:00 PM and there was nobody at the villa reception. I called three numbers and got no answer. After asking the waiters on the front terrace, I eventually found the hotel reception. The first room had plaster falling off the walls. It was nowhere near the 26 sq m claimed on booking, more like 10 or 12 at most. They moved us to a room where the plaster wasn’t falling, but the conditions were just as poor.

The place stinks, the AC doesn’t work, and there’s no insect screen on the balcony. The sheets were stained, the bed was broken and squeaky, and there was mold and spiders. You could hear a neighbor fart. It felt like being on Asia Express.

They’re badly disorganized and don’t seem to know who booked or when. Rooms are vacated whenever they feel like it. We waited four hours for the rooms to be vacated at noon, only to be told they’d be cleaned at 2 pm before we could check in.
