Pensiune Valea Lupului

We were hungry and there weren't many other places around, so we stayed even after a very unfriendly welcome at the restaurant. When I asked if she could take our order, the staff member coldly said no and told us we'd arrived late. It was 3 pm, and she said we'd have to wait at least an hour. She gave the same response to other people who came after us. Our food came in 20 minutes and was decent, but the service means I won't stop here again. The owner has their values displayed on the billboard outside, and should hire staff who respect them, or at least have read them once.

We've stopped here for lunch many times over the last few years. The staff are friendly and proactive, but don't keep coming to the table too often. The food is above average, and I'd recommend trying everything else on the menu. The rosti was the exception for me: the heavy, oily cheese topping was so excessive I couldn't eat it without feeling sick. The restaurant and bathrooms have always been very clean. There are always cats on the outdoor terrace, and the music is at a good level for conversation. We only ate lunch here, so I can't comment on the rooms.

The food is great and inexpensive, and the service is so friendly it makes you feel at home. If you have preferences or want the sauna heated just for yourselves, don't be shy about asking. It's a simple place with thoughtful little details that make you feel good. A surprisingly pleasant experience and great value for money, highly recommended. Their business also supports a cause, which is another reason to give it a try.

We stopped for a bite while passing through, but after more than 15 minutes I noticed other customers going inside to get the menu. I also heard from people at the next table that the place belongs to a Swiss lady. The table was sticky, and the oil and vinegar were almost boiling in the sun. I decided not to find out what the food was like and got back on the road. Maybe the Swiss lady forgot her watch at home!
