Hotel Meridian Orsova

The restaurant was the bright spot: I really liked the good food, and the staff were very friendly. The location is convenient, right downtown and just a five-minute walk from the boat cruises. But those positives couldn't make up for the rest of our stay. Our room was filthy, with ants and hairs everywhere, and we found a cockroach too. The bathroom was dirty. Even after staff came to clean the next day, ants were still crawling behind the bed and in the bathroom, so the cleaning felt superficial. The free Wi-Fi didn't work at all during our three days there. I hope they take this review into account and fix these problems.

The reception person was okay, the hotel was quiet and my room was clean. It was almost too quiet, though, and felt very dark and a bit stern. We had to wait 10 minutes for hot water. There’s no elevator, the minibar was empty, and the mattress was very soft. Breakfast wasn't a buffet. You could customize it, but the options were limited to four kinds of omelettes and one coffee or tea. Anything else, or more, cost extra. The hotel should be rated 2 stars, not 3. Also, despite what the Michelin touristic guide says, there is no night-club.

The food was good, but the restaurant service was poor and they didn't turn on the aircon. There’s no lift, and the rooms feel a bit out of date.

A weird man at reception, wearing a shirt and undershirt, asked 400 ron for four people to share one room with a double bed and a couch. I left the hotel disgusted.
