Edelweiss

Edelweiss is ideally placed in “the grove” of Poiana. Bradul and all the ski shops are right outside, and plenty of restaurants are an easy walk away. My wife and I had a wonderful visit, and the hotel was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The rooms are nicely decorated, and there’s a lower-level equipment room where guests can keep skis and snowboards handy. Service at the comfortable bar and restaurant was top notch. Reception was accommodating too, arranging transport when we needed it and helping us get reservations at the town’s most famous places. I’m looking forward to coming back.

The restaurant menu is limited, but the food was tasty and came out quickly. Breakfast was average. The hotel is pleasant and close to the ski slope, with parking and a ski storage room. Check-in and check-out were quick, and the rooms were clean. Wi-Fi was pretty good and free, and the rooms had large TVs with a good range of channels. Guests can book access to a sauna with a small jacuzzi ahead of time. On the downside, the bathroom fan was noisy, the shower’s hot water was intermittent, and some lights didn’t work.

It might work as a winter hotel, but in summer the room was unbearably hot. There was no air conditioning or fan, and the windows only opened a little, so the room couldn’t air out. Without bug screens, leaving a window open meant insects would get in. It’s an okay hotel, but I wouldn’t call it four-star or think it was worth the money, especially in summer.

The service and food were good, the beds comfortable, and the room was heated properly. There was a nice touch, too. Unfortunately, the jacuzzi had a problem and we couldn’t use it.
