La Curtea Porumbaceana

I had such a good stay that leaving was the last thing I wanted to do. The mountain views and surrounding nature were something special, and Mr. Florine and Ms. Crenguta were wonderfully kind and welcoming. I never went hungry during my stay. After four days, I felt I’d really taken in the Porumbaceana culture and even become a bit of a Porumbaceana man. I’ll definitely return on my next trip to Romania!

The rooms were dirty, and the toilet seat still had urine from previous guests. There was just one spotlight in the bathroom. When I asked the owner to fix the lighting, he didn’t seem to care. The site has lots of photos and descriptions that don’t match what we found. For instance, there’s no menu to choose from. You get one kind of food, whatever the owner has made that day. Being a good farmer doesn’t automatically make someone a good manager. If hospitality basics aren’t your thing, stick to farm work. I was glad to leave after two nights, the first time I’ve ever felt that way about a place I stayed.

The location is pretty, though somewhat isolated, and the rooms are spacious. But they were dusty and dirty, the traditional items smelled quite bad, and there was no internet connection at all.
