Hotel Belvedere Predeal

The views on both sides are lovely, parking was easy, and the staff were friendly. The food was tasty, the water pressure was strong, and the modern elevator was a plus. The rooms looked clean, and the sheets had a cursive B embroidered on them. But the place feels run down and barely cared for. It may have been the place to go in the 70s and 80s, but now it looks like a closed thrift shop. The furniture seems second hand and is falling apart, and the decor and walls are so bad they made me laugh. The bed was hard as a board, and the breakfast buffet was a joke. There’s a pool table in the lobby, but guests have to pay to use it. Nickel-and-diming people is poor service. I won’t be back.

The best part for me was the setting. The view might be one of the best in Romania, and I’d recommend a visit in winter, or summer too. Inside, the restaurant has an unusual layout, with dining tables on different levels, plus a fireplace and a stage. The lobby is a relaxing spot, and the spa is just the right size. What let the place down was how staff handled basic questions. Asking about a different room or why spa visits needed to be scheduled could lead to baffling answers. I found it more funny than upsetting at first, but questions seemed to be taken personally, and you could sense the staff getting frustrated. I eventually stopped asking. The front desk and restaurant teams need customer service training. L.E. They should close the SPA until the reservation system is sorted out or the front desk can explain it properly. Guests shouldn’t find out at the desk that they can’t use an advertised service because it’s fully booked. Hope that makes sense 😂

We were there for one night with a group. The Wi-Fi didn’t work, and the only coffee was black. Our extra bed was broken, with just a tiny mattress, and there wasn’t an extra blanket. I also found someone’s used gum stuck to the lamp, so it wasn’t clean.

We went just for dinner and really enjoyed the tasting menu. We’d reserved it, but when we arrived the waiter said they couldn’t offer it because they didn’t have enough staff. After we pointed out the reservation, they managed to prepare it after all. They need to communicate better with customers.
