Maggie’s Ranch

We spent part of our summer holiday at Maggie’s Ranch and had a great time. The pool was clean and relaxing, and the whole place had a chill feel. Everyone who worked there was friendly and nice to us. There are lots of tourist attractions nearby, and the food came quickly and was amazing. You can’t get bored here, I recommend it!

The view from our room was stunning, and Andrei and Cristian were especially kind and helpful. They really tried to make us feel welcome, unlike many of the other staff, who seemed indifferent and never checked whether we needed anything. We stayed four nights, but our rooms weren’t cleaned and our towels weren’t changed. The old showers leaked, and even after we asked, they weren’t fixed. The pool and jacuzzi are nice, but towels weren’t included. We had to pay for them or use the room towels, which wouldn’t be changed until the next day. After 10pm, there was no reception staff around. We spilled water on our duvet and couldn’t find anyone to change it. There was only one restaurant, which was fine for a meal or two but got repetitive. Breakfast was a letdown too: the milk was spoiled on two occasions. Horse riding and ATV cars at the ranch were the only activities. Horse riding cost 100 lei for half an hour. Our four girls enjoyed it, but most of the time was spent going in circles without any real instruction. For that price, it didn’t feel private or fulfilling. I’d also expected more farm animals, like chickens, pigs, and sheep, for the kids to see, and fresh produce from the ranch to make it feel like a real ranch. The evenings felt dull, with no effort to bring guests together. An activity like a bonfire or gathering would have helped people connect. The views and Andrei and Cristian’s kindness were the highlights, but the limited amenities and lack of attention from the rest of the staff made the stay disappointing. I hope management considers these issues.

It’s a quiet, secluded ranch with a relaxed feel. The rooms are spacious and good, but the housekeeping staff didn’t seem well trained. Even after we kept asking, the rooms were rarely cleaned. Breakfast choices were very limited, and they served spoiled milk several times. The burgers were very good at lunch and dinner, though there’s room for improvement. Christian and Andrei were super friendly and nice. The kids also got horse riding lessons for an extra fee, and the horses were well cared for.

We’ve tried quite a few places for horseback riding because my daughter loves horses, and this was the worst experience we’ve had. We called ahead to ask about reservations and were told we could come anytime after 2pm. The man in charge clearly wasn’t in the mood to help. We had three kids, as discussed on the call, but they only gave us two horses. When we asked for helmets, he asked why the kids would need them and said they wouldn’t be doing much anyway, so they got no helmets. We also asked about the price and what the ride would involve, but they didn’t tell us and just acted as if they hadn’t heard. After about 25 minutes, roughly six laps around the barn per child, they took the horses back and said that was all. The men charged us 170 lei and didn’t even seem to consider giving us a receipt. Very unfriendly. If you want a fun horseback riding experience, this isn’t the place.
