Pensiunea Ileana

We weren’t made to feel welcome at all. There was no hello, thank you, or goodbye, and no one spoke English. The food was very average. The chicken had no taste, and the fries were undercooked with almost no cheese. Only the soup was nearly good. I wouldn’t go back. I’d rather spend my money somewhere with kinder people who really care about the taste of their cooking.

The prices are low, and booking is free. The wine cellar, with its original rustic decorations made from 100-year-old oak, is open from 12:00 to 01:00. An orchestra plays Romanian folk music Tuesday through Friday. It’s a five-minute walk from the Brukenthal Museum, the Museum of History, and many other interesting landmarks.

The pension is easy to find and sits right in the city center, near Piața Mare, the Brukenthal Museum, shops, and other attractions. There’s also skating and shopping nearby in winter, just about a minute’s walk away. The rooms aren’t as large as some elsewhere, but they’re attractive, clean, and organized. The bathroom is clean, has a shower cabin, and doesn’t feel cramped. It usually smells pleasantly of citrus plants. There’s a Romanian restaurant with folk music and decent food. To find it, leave the pension and turn left. The parking lot and cab station should be in front of you. I’m a local who has stayed here, not an employee, someone paid by them, or the owner. I never stayed at the guest house, so I can't comment on that, but I always eat at the restaurant when I'm in Sibiu. The Romanian traditional food is delicious, and the prices are really good.
