White Dove Pension

The location is a little remote, so you'll need a car for groceries, restaurants, or visiting places nearby. But it's a great spot to relax away from city noise. We had a lovely four-night stay and would definitely return. The room was clean and spacious, the house welcoming, and the kitchen had what we needed. The yard and its pond are a nice place to unwind, and the dog and two cats are a treat if you love animals. The host was gracious and helpful. Tours in the area are also available for larger groups.

There's a small lake and swing on the property, and we were even given a huge speaker to play music outside. The outdoor terrace has what you need to cook traditional Romanian food, including a gratar. There are friendly, playful pets around, too. The ciubar and sauna are right next to each other, and the ciubar has heated water, a jacuzzi and lights inside. Markets for emergency supplies are about a 10-minute drive away. It's a very welcoming place in the mountains, with a pleasant owner who's great to talk with. The location is good, though a little isolated compared with other places. There's plenty to enjoy with family or friends, and the atmosphere changes between seasons, so it's worth visiting in both winter and summer.

The host was very friendly, and breakfast was good and reasonably priced. The rooms and bathroom are spacious, with lovely wooden furniture. There's also a living room with a fireplace and a kitchen, though using the kitchen costs extra. Outside, the large, well-kept yard has a lake and pontoon, with trees behind it. The “ciubăr” and sauna are available for an extra charge, so ask the host about prices. A barbecue area beside the pension has everything you need, including a fire stove and fire pit. It's covered with transparent folia to protect from wind and side rain, and there's a loudspeaker if you want to party. The place is lovely, very clean, and well maintained.

Jimmy was an excellent host during our five days at the pension, attentive to guests' needs and very assertive. The place was exceptionally clean, the cleanest we've stayed in across all our travels around Romania and abroad. The cleaning was comparable to a 4-star Hotel. It's just outside Miercurea Ciuc, with easy access to Băile Tușnad and St Anna Lake. I wouldn't recommend staying elsewhere in the area, especially Tușnad, which is noisy, rusty, and old.
