Schassburger Tor

The motel was clean, roomy, and pleasant, and breakfast was included and delicious. It’s a little far from the center, but the bus is an option, or you can walk in about 20 minutes if you pause for photos. Prices were reasonable. I’d recommend it!

The staff were cheerful, kind, and ready to help, and I really enjoyed the breakfast. Schassburger Tor isn’t close to the Old City, but it’s a worthwhile budget option if you want large, comfortable rooms. I had a great stay.

The hosts were trusting and the place was nice. Getting luggage upstairs was hard, though: there’s no lift, and the route includes two floors and a spiral staircase.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the facilities were easy to use. We had a wonderfully comfortable stay and would book again, despite a few functional snags. The location isn’t ideal. By car, the five-minute drive to the city center isn’t a major inconvenience, but relying on public transport could get tiring since a taxi is the only option, even if it’s inexpensive. The building is welcoming and stands out nicely in the neighborhood. It has the feel of a well-kept local mansion, which adds charm. There’s enough parking out front for the full booking capacity, plus an outdoor relaxation area in the backyard. Inside, the tasteful furnishings and detailed finishes give it a classic European feel. Some doors and drawers were awkward to operate or made noises that didn’t seem right for a four-star place. The bed squeaked annoyingly whenever we moved. One shower drained too slowly and overflowed onto the bathroom floor, while the hose in another room broke. Apart from those shower problems, the bathrooms were nicely finished and well equipped.
