We left for another hotel the next morning after one of the worst nights I’ve had in years. The attic room felt close to 30 °C in the sunny weather. The portable air conditioner barely helped after running for hours, and it was too noisy to sleep with. The bed was hard, traffic from the main road went on all night, and the neighbor’s dog barked from around 2 a.m. until sunrise. The service was just as bad. We arrived to a closed gate, and the man on the phone seemed confused and unprepared. His English was poor, he gave us the wrong door code several times, and he was impolite. When we returned to check out after five days, the room still hadn’t been cleaned. The price was above average for the area as well. Avoid it.

We couldn’t make it on the first night of our two-night booking because of terrible traffic jams, and the property manager agreed that we could arrive the following day. But when we got there, he said the booking had been cancelled and there was no room for us. He also refused to refund that night. He blamed booking.com, though the app showed that he had cancelled it himself. He then said we should have contacted him through booking.com instead of WhatsApp. I believe he knew what he was doing and cancelled so he could rent the room to someone else and collect payment twice for that night. We had to find another place at the last minute. Think twice before trusting him.

The room had a nice design, the staff were helpful, and I liked having a fireplace. We could hear trains and road traffic, including buses, TIRs, and cars, from our room. The walls are thin too, so sounds from the neighbor’s jacuzzi came through, along with their conversations and TV.

We had the house to ourselves. Around midnight, my wife woke me because the bed had started shaking strangely. I thought I was dreaming until she shouted and turned on the light. The movement gradually stopped, but it felt like a moderate earthquake. The National Institute for Earth phisics hadn’t reported anything, and apparently nobody else felt it. Later, after we turned the lights off, we heard what sounded like heavy footsteps on the wooden stairs. I called the owner right away, but he didn’t answer. It was frightening, though the experience did change how we think about paranormal things. I’d definitely return with a nightvision camera, some geophones, and an EMI sensor to investigate.
