Ramada by Wyndham Targu Jiu

The owners were so kind and generous, and the staff were welcoming and ready to help from the start. We tried a few different rooms, all spotless and cared for, with comfortable beds and fantastic pillows. Cleanliness was clearly taken seriously throughout the hotel. We had a great stay at this 4-star hotel. It was comfortable, friendly, and the service went beyond what we expected. Highly recommend it. 5/5 stars.

We had dinner at the hotel too. The food was good and the portions were generous, and breakfast offered plenty for the price. Our junior suite had an extendable sofa that worked really well for the family. The newer hotel has modern facilities, plus an outdoor pool with two slides. It’s in a quiet area in the north of the city, about a 10-minute drive from the center. The large parking lot has spaces shaded by solar panels, which we appreciated. Staff were friendly and helped change our reservation when our plans shifted. It was my first stay at a Ramada, and a very good one.

Getting to the city center on foot can feel like an adventure, since it’s quite a distance. The air conditioning couldn’t be adjusted, and the concierge suggested leaving the window open all night. Prices are through the roof, and the value for money feels like one or two stars. For a Ramada, this was disappointing. Compared with other Ramada locations in Romania and the EU, I wouldn’t give it more than two stars.

The hotel’s location is handy, close to the main city street, and there’s a huge free parking area out front. Rooms are fresh and pleasant. Breakfast was just okay, nowhere near as good as what we’ve had at similar-category hotels. The pool is a decent size and wasn’t crowded, though a swimming school shares it with several kids and a teacher in the evenings. It’s odd that pool access costs extra for every day of the stay, especially at a spa hotel. The summer spa facilities are nice, but that charge makes no sense.
