Hostel Cornel

We were touring the Balkans and wanted somewhere central to stay for a few hours while in town. We arrived late and left early, and I didn’t see any staff. The key was in the room, and we left it there. We booked two rooms, but they weren’t equipped the same. My friend had a desk, a fan, and towels. Mine had none of those, and I can’t figure out why. Bizarre. The location was faultless, and that’s the only thing I’d recommend based on my stay. If it costs a few euros a night, fine, but at the price of a cheap hotel room, you shouldn’t rely on the location and leave guests with the hostel experience. I had no towels or fan, but I did have a fringe. There was nowhere to plug it in, so I took it into the shower room. Safe.

The reception lady was very friendly and helpful, and the location is great. I stayed two nights in a tidy, spacious single room. The bed was very comfortable, though I could have used another pillow. I didn’t see any cockroaches or other insects, despite what others had said. The shower was a bit weak because of a leak.

The central location is handy, with grocery stores and the old city center nearby, and our room was clean with everything we needed. But the old windows and door let in every sound. We could hear anything happening outside the room. During our stay, there was construction at the property from early morning till dawn, making it almost unbearable to sleep. I don’t recommend it.
