Hotel Boavista

It's well placed for walking around the city, and you can leave your car in the parking lot. The reception staff were excellent. The rooms feel quite worn and don't match the look of the hotel, and the old windows let in a lot of outside noise.

Everything about the hotel itself was perfect, and I stayed there with my family. The problem was the venue across the street, about 60m away. It looked like a warehouse, and I couldn't tell if it was a techno club or a music festival space, like White Sensation or Love Parade. On Saturday party nights, if you book an apartment, the music can keep you awake until 3-4 AM. Management, if you run a hotel, you can't have a music festival right next to it. It's like putting a Casino beside an Elementary School, an erotic shop next to a church, or a pig or chicken farm beside a residential building.

We didn't sleep all night. On our last night, a Saturday, there was a wedding on the 4th floor while we were staying on the 1st. We could hear the music in the room and feel the bass through the bed and pillow. I wore headphones, and my fiance slept with a pillow over his head. The music went on until 4:30 am. I called reception at 11pm to ask where the noise was coming from. They said there was a wedding and it would last a maximum of 2 hours, though they had the right to carry it on very late. At 3pm, after the promised two hours had long passed, I went down and asked them to do something about the music and bass. The receptionist acted as if nothing was wrong, said they couldn't hear it, and refused to come to our floor, saying he had hearing problems. They were unhelpful and showed no empathy, ignoring our request for quiet in a hotel where people come to sleep, not party like at a club. I'll never return or recommend it to anyone.

The gym was quite decent, but the sauna was broken. The reception looks nice, and the hotel seems stylish, though the building is getting old for lack of maintenance. The photos are old, so don't rely on them. There's no proper pathway entrance, and if you arrive by car you can be left waiting at the barrier for 3 minutes. The receptionist was off duty and irresponsible. I made my booking 2 moths in advance, but reception and management tried to cancel it, claiming they had no extra spare rooms. In the morning I found out they had decided to prioritize a sports team coming for a weekend game, along with their stuff. The staff were unprofessional, and the receptionist and management team lied confidently. The owner doesn't care about other people and will ignore them to put sports teams up overnight. This feels like a corrupted hotel and management, like the Romanian government. Terrible, extremely annoying experience. Timișoara has better hotels, especially in the central area if you're looking to enjoy your time away. Don't book this place in advance, because they may cancel without telling you and leave you scrambling for other accommodation. I'd only trust it if I really needed a bed for one night.
