The location is the one thing going for it. At 390 lei a night, which is what we saw on Booking, it felt way too expensive. The place looks and feels cheap, the wardrobe wobbled, and the bathroom design felt dated. We had to unplug the air conditioner because its remote wouldn’t turn it off. There’s no elevator, so luggage has to go up two flights of stairs. We only stayed one night, but it left us with a poor impression of the Romanian seaside.

It was clean, but the details let it down. There was hair left on the shower drain, which really spoiled the impression, and the bathroom fixtures weren’t good. The rooms are badly decorated too. The location is clearly the main advantage, and the rebranding still seems unfinished since Victory is still there.

We had trouble finding the hotel when we arrived because it still uses its old name, Hotel Victory. The reception staff were kind and pointed us in the right direction, including to the parking behind the building. Once there, the sea view from our balcony became our favorite spot, especially at sunrise. The hotel is right on the seafront, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and minimally decorated. The bed was really comfortable, and it was peaceful, just right for the relaxing few days we wanted. The staff were attentive and happy to help without hovering. Breakfast isn’t included, though you can get coffee at the bar in the morning. Vama and the sea made it easy to switch off. We’d definitely return.

The hotel has recently changed hands, but the logo hasn’t been updated yet. If you can’t find it, look for Victory.
