Sunset Beach

The view and location were lovely, but we barely had anywhere to sit outside our room. A small first-floor area with a few tables was the only guest spot for chatting, coffee or a morning smoke, and we were told not to use it even though hotel staff and their friends used it regularly. Downstairs, restaurant tables were reserved during the day, and guests still couldn't sit there after closing. So there was little to do here beyond staying in the room, watching TV and sleeping. I know a vacation means getting out and about, but a hotel should have some space for guests to socialize. Our room was also quite small, and the toilet kept flooding the bathroom. I have concerns about how thoroughly they clean and check for bed bugs, which periodically affect Romania and can spread through accommodations. I have no evidence there were any here, but after our weekend stay I washed all my clothes at 90 degrees. It wasn't a great Vama Veche stay for me.

The shower was good, the bed was okay, and nights were quiet. This worked well if you wanted to sleep and get up early. The downside was an electricity problem: they had to run a generator from 7am right outside our window, and there were no blinds.

The cleaning staff were consistently friendly, and the small rooms and bathrooms were very clean. We could watch the sunrise from our room. Still, the owner's behavior was awful and nearly spoiled an otherwise lovely family vacation. She shouted insults and profanities at someone in our group for no reason. Completely unacceptable.

We keep choosing this place in Vama Veche and plan to return. It's well located and the rooms are clean. The only thing stopping me from giving five stars is the WC placement, which leaves you facing the wall. For the price, though, I can live with that. Thank you, and see you again!
