La Bucovineanca

The evening meals were good, and there was a decent selection for vegetarians. The staff were cooperative and the hotel was comfortable enough. I’d have rated the restaurant five stars if they’d served proper Indian black tea, with or without milk. We were travelling as a group and really wanted tea after a long day on the road.

We were struck by the scenery as soon as my family and I arrived in Bucovina. The mountain inn sits beautifully in its surroundings, and its location makes it easy to drive to the famous monasteries and explore the area. The grounds even include a farm with ostriches. We loved unwinding in the outdoor dining area, enjoying food from the restaurant and traditional Romanian spirits while taking in the view. The villa has a cozy cabin feel, and the simple rooms were immaculately clean. The staff were attentive from the start, always helpful and friendly, and made the stay feel special. We had a delightful visit and can’t wait to return. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for comfort and warm hospitality.

The mattress was the worst part of our stay. It felt like lying on rocks and made it almost impossible to sleep. We booked a superior room as a couple, relying on the good reviews, but it didn’t live up to its four-star rating. There wasn’t a fridge or hair dryer, and the shower gel was missing. There was only one vanity kit and one shower cap, despite our making clear that two of us were staying. The shower head was extremely old and barely worked. The place seemed clean, though we noticed stains on the curtains and tablecloth. We only ate breakfast there. It was a fixed menu, which seemed odd for a four-star resort. The stay was definitely overpriced and doesn’t deserve four stars. We won’t be back.

There’s a large garden where children can play outdoors, and the guest house has a good restaurant with a variety of dishes. It’s also a handy base for visiting the many attractions around Bucovina. A really nice place.
