Pensiunea Talhaus

Angela and John made us feel so welcome. The room and bathroom were clean and looked new, and the big shower gave the bathroom a touch of luxury. Breakfast was included and fantastic, with lots of local produce like milk, eggs, cheese, and sausages. The Pension is a cosy place for relaxing, hiking, or enjoying nature. It sits a little off the beaten path along a rural dirt road that’s well maintained. A regular car can make the drive, though an SUV would get you there a bit faster. We loved our stay and only wish it had been longer. Looking forward to coming back!

Ion and Angela did so much to make our stay unforgettable. They’re wonderful hosts, the Pension was the cleanest I’ve visited, and the location was perfect. I have nothing but praise for every part of our stay, and can’t wait to return.

We were sorry to leave after three nights at Talhaus, and wished we’d booked a longer stay. The room felt both authentic and comfortable, and breakfast was home-baked and served in a cosy guest lounge. Angela and Ion were warm and friendly, and we’re looking forward to seeing them again.

The off-road trip in the 6x6 Pinzgauer was a highlight, with lovely views from the top of the hill. I’d definitely recommend it. The road there wasn’t a problem for our small Opel Astra J, and we didn’t hit anything underneath. It should be fine unless your car sits really low. The owners were kind and helpful, with suggestions for getting the most out of Maramures. Breakfast was fresh, with local and homemade dishes, and filling enough for the whole day. The rooms were clean, the bathroom looked new, and it stayed warm even with the radiator set to 0. Big windows gave us a beautiful view of the scenery when we woke up. It was also wonderfully quiet, with none of the traffic noise you get near a busy road, and the clean air felt like therapy after a year of city dust. We had a great time and will come back.
