We liked the clean rooms, the friendly staff, and the restaurant food was pretty good. But the New Year’s Eve package cost 400 euros per night for two people, including breakfast and dinner, and felt nowhere near worth that price. It was meant to include snowmobiling, a sauna, and a hot tub. They said there wasn’t enough snow for the snowmobiles, even though there was plenty for skiing. The sauna was only lukewarm, and the hot tub was cold. When I raised it, they brushed me off with the usual “nobody else complained.” I’ve traveled across four continents and countless countries, and only one other luxury-priced hotel, in Mongolia, had a cold “hot” tub. We couldn’t even get a proper hot shower because the shower head didn’t fit its holder, so I had to hold it in one hand while washing my hair with the other. Dinner took close to an hour every night. Drinks weren’t part of the 400 euros a day, and it felt like they left us waiting in the hope we’d order some. On New Year’s Eve, the cold appetizer took 50 minutes to arrive; after another half hour with no main course in sight, we ate that and left to celebrate with our friends. We hadn’t come to sit staring at restaurant walls for hours. The place is clean and the staff are pleasant, but we won’t return. At those prices, the constant extras feel like nickel-and-diming.
