Accommodation Elegance

The Wi-Fi was strong, and the rooms were clean. There’s a 24-hour reception and lots of little shops nearby. St. Sava Park, with plenty of bars and restaurants, is close, and it’s about a 15-minute walk to the centre. We could hear other guests through the walls, though. I think they’d put the TV on a wall that didn’t adjoin another room to help with the noise, but watching it gave me a twisted neck. That mattered more because it rained heavily all four days we were there. We paid in euros, and it worked out cheaper than the offered exchange rate. There was a card terminal, though I got the impression that card fees are still high in Serbia: wherever we went, people discouraged us from using one or said it wasn’t working. A taxi to the airport cost 500 dinars by prior agreement, while the meter showed 530. We spotted a number 34 bus to the airport a block away, but the locals we asked couldn’t tell us much. There was no timetable in sight, and with little time left we took a taxi.
