Hotel Putnik

It’s a shame for a hotel right in the city center. The staff were friendly and changed our room straight away, but the replacement was dirty too. There were dead bugs and hair everywhere, and the plumbing was almost completely blocked, so the bathroom flooded easily. The refrigerator didn’t work, and we were told that none of them worked.

I wouldn’t recommend staying at The Putnik. Check the reviews before booking. The location is good, and the day concierge was helpful and very friendly. But the hotel was dirty. The mattress and pillows were old and thin, and the bedding didn’t fit properly. The curtains weren’t attached properly and kept falling off the rail. The bathroom smelled rancid, and the shower wouldn’t drain, so I was standing in 10 cm of water while showering. It was moldy, with soap and limescale built up over the floor, walls, taps, and doors. The bar fridge was warm, too. Breakfast was cold, with stale bread and old salad items, and there wasn’t much variety. This hotel needs a deep clean and restoration 😞

The sheets were filthy, and asking staff for clean ones didn’t help: the couple they brought were stained too. The rooms were dirty overall. I found it disgusting and wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

The Serbian breakfast was delicious, and the staff were extremely kind and helpful. The central location, in the pedestrian area, made it easy to walk to the EXIT festival. My only issue was the air conditioning in the west-facing room. With 38 degrees Celsius outside, it couldn’t cool the room enough, and it felt sweaty.
