Nikolajevska

The owner did show some understanding at first, which is why I gave a rating of two. Unfortunately, that lasted only a few hours. We had booked an apartment for Saturday, November 2, 2024, with free cancellation available until Thursday, October 31. After the tragedy in Novi Sad on Friday, November 1, where people died, the following day was declared a day of mourning. There was no place for a celebration, and the concert we were going to had been canceled. We contacted the owner promptly on November 1, apologized for not coming, and explained why. We offered to get in touch once a new concert date was announced and rebook then. He said he understood and wouldn't take money from our reservation given the reason. He asked us to send a free cancellation request through Booking, so we did. At half past one that night, we received a message saying it had been rejected. When we called the next day, he said the concert had nothing to do with him and he wasn't interested. The money was taken from our account. After many trips around Serbia, this is the first time we've had this happen. Our advice is to avoid people who show so little empathy. Prompt communication, good intentions, and professional behavior are hard to find these days. Booking protects landlords, so don't expect them to help with this kind of issue. The two stars are for those few hours when the owner seemed human. Maybe there's still hope.
