Hotel Siesta

Right by the road, it’s a handy place to stop and rest. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, and we slept well. It’s clean too. For breakfast, try " komplet lepinja", a local Užice bun with egg and kajmak, a type of sour cream. I’d also really recommend exploring the city and its medieval fortress.

We came back in May 2025 after first visiting in September 2023. Back then I’d have given the hotel five stars, but the quality has dropped a lot since. It seems the owners have stopped investing in improvements. Our room wasn’t cleaned properly, with dust throughout and a spider web on the ceiling. In the afternoon it was over 30 degrees Celsius, the air conditioner didn’t work, and we had no hot water for the first couple of days. Breakfast was good, just not as good as on our earlier visit. I hope the hotel makes improvements over the next months or years and gets back to how it used to be.

After a three-day hike in Montenegro, our group stopped here for lunch. Our agency had called ahead to ask whether we could eat there, and the hotel agreed. For 12e, we got one small bowl of soup and a plate with a tiny amount of chicken and fries for four or five people to share. They didn’t serve individual portions, and there simply wasn’t enough food. It felt like a money grab.
