Apartmani Krcma Gaj

The walk to Krcma Gaj is lovely in good weather, with great views and a nice feel to this part of Serbia. The restaurant has gorgeous scenery too. My husband and I were served promptly, though it was empty, apparently because it was low season, and I understand it can get quite crowded in high season. We had the komplet lepinja with prosciutto, which was delicious and well priced. I'd recommend going there if you're staying in Zlatibor.

The food was amazing and the Serbian hospitality was lovely. Getting to the tavern means navigating a narrow stretch of road, and that's the other thing that could be improved. The bigger downside was people smoking everywhere, which really affected the food's taste and the whole experience.

The food was delicious, especially the "zelje" soup, and the menu focuses on traditional, flavorful dishes. Service took a long time, with a noticeable delay even after staff had been moving things because of the rain. Krčma Gaj has an old-school kafana feel, a spacious terrace with magnificent views, and its own parking. It's pleasantly tucked away from busy Zlatibor center. Some construction spare parts and other things left below the main terrace took away a little from the ambiance. Part of the terrace has no roof, so when it rained we had to move inside. Even with the slow service and those few issues, it's well worth a visit for the food, setting, and authentic charm. A bit of tidying up and faster service would make it a 5-star experience.
