Hotel Iris

We left after one night and moved to another hotel. The smell in the bathroom was unbearable. I reported it at reception, and they sent a cleaner who poured boiling water down the drain, as if this problem were news to them. Another guest in the elevator said they'd had the same smell. While I was packing, the cleaners poured acidic chemicals in the bathroom and left me breathing them in. They said they'd done all they could. They did offer another room with a bathroom window, but it was tiny with no room for luggage, dark, and depressing, with a bed in bad condition. The hotel feels very outdated, the food was bland, and there was ice at the entrance on a steep street. A woman with a child and other people kept falling, but when I pointed it out, the staff wouldn't put down salt and didn't seem to care. I can't understand the positive reviews that led us here. For the same or less money, you can find much better places, even luxurious ones, as we did after moving.

The breakfast buffet was abundant, varied, and truly excellent. The rooms are well kept, with spacious bathrooms, and the staff were friendly from reception and housekeeping to the spa and pool. It's a very nice, new, clean hotel, only a short walk from the so-called center. For getting around, driving is a much better option, with plenty of directions online and at the local tourist bureau info point. The surrounding nature is lovely, with green highlands, a cave, a waterfall, and good restaurants serving local food.

The balcony had a great view over the surroundings, and the rooms were roomy, clean, and comfortable. Staff were very service-minded and made us feel welcome. There's a small spa with a large indoor pool and saunas. Breakfast had a good selection of different dishes, and we didn't miss anything.

It's a nice neighborhood, and the hotel is within walking distance of the city center. The place is very clean, with an old-school feel and lots of warmth. The staff were polite and kind. Since we're Indians and don't speak the local dialect, communicating was a bit of a struggle, but some staff spoke English and really helped us figure out what to try or do.
