We left less than half an hour after arriving because the room was so unpleasant, and they refused to refund any of our payment, including the evening meal we'd paid for in advance. We were led down a dark corridor at check-in and had to use a phone light to open the door. The rooms were damp, dark, and unpleasant, and the bathroom was in disrepair, with half-used shower gel tubes on the floor. I'm not fussy and would have been fine with this at a low-price hotel, but we'd paid a lot, especially when the Serena and the Hilton are much cheaper.

The staff were respectful, accommodating, and eager to deal with any challenges we faced so we could enjoy our stay. Thanks.

The staff were courteous and helpful, and the area around the hotel was quiet. The CBD was about a 10-minute walk away, and the airport around 15 minutes by car, which worked well for business travelers in financial services. I stayed in an apartment. The bedding and bathroom towels were okay, but the kitchen, dining space, and living room were quite dusty. The furnishings felt dated, and the carpets could use replacing. Breakfast was limited to things like cereal, bread, a boiled egg, fruit, tea or coffee, and local food. I ate dinner there once and found it average.

The view from the top of Hill View was amazing.

The apartments were nice, and the restaurant staff were great, but dealing with the front desk and management was too much. We won't stay here again or recommend it. Our volunteer group has worked in Rwanda since 2006, and we booked three Hill View apartments months ahead, paying half the total as a deposit. At check-in, they tried to charge us double the agreed price. We had the emails and paperwork, but still spent two days negotiating before they accepted the original rate. We had to threaten to contact the investigation board. We had also booked two months for two groups, one in October and the next in November. They insisted on taking the keys for the one day between groups. When the second group arrived at the same apartments, the first group’s food, drinks, and kitchen supplies were gone. It was nearly $100 USD worth of provisions. It felt like hotel staff had taken them.
