Golden Tulip Al Khobar Suites

We had a wonderful time. The rooms were very clean, and the view was lovely. It’s close to the sea in a perfect location, and Nawal at reception was very helpful. Thank you.

Many thanks to Mohammad Hridoy, the room boy, for all his help and kindness. I also want to thank Mr.Sayed Abed Alfatah, the restaurant manager, for the great food, especially the very fresh vegetables, and his kindness. Abed Alrahman at reception was very helpful and gentle too.

Booking was very easy, but the rooms are old and badly need an upgrade. Water drips from the ceiling. There’s no microwave to heat food, and nobody offered to help us warm it up.

The room lights barely helped, beyond reducing the shadows, and the smaller of the suite’s two bathrooms was awkward to use. It had only a showerhead, so it wasn’t comfortable for a proper shower. I also woke up with rashes and bites that later became a bruise, most likely from bed bugs, which made the place feel unsafe and unhygienic. The buffet food, at both breakfast and dinner, was always cold. Dinner cost a hefty 89 SAR per person, but sweets and juice weren’t included and cost extra, so it felt even less worth the price. The air conditioning was extremely loud and barely worked. Even set to 16°C, the room stayed warm and I couldn’t feel any airflow. Every time I left and came back, I had to go to reception to re-verify my room card or it wouldn’t open the door. Loud music played constantly in the hallways, and banging from the floor above repeatedly woke me at night. The rooms were outdated and poorly maintained, despite the impressive exterior, which clearly had money and effort put into its design. The stay at Golden Tulip Al Khobar was full of frustration.
