Alwateen Hotel

Ahmed and Billal were very helpful and kept things running smoothly. The staff were welcoming, and coffee and dates were always available at reception, which was refreshing after coming in from the desert. Breakfast was enjoyable, with plenty of healthy options, as other reviewers' photos show. You can also ask for an omelette or eggs cooked fresh.

The rooms were fine and clean, but that was about the only good part. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, right in front of a four-lane motorway. We stayed two nights and didn't get any room cleaning. We had to ask for towels and insist on getting two. Breakfast was lousy: no cakes or butter, just apples, oranges, and bananas. We practically had to beg for bread, and the bread served with dinner was the same cheap industrial kind.

We stopped here for a quick overnight rest, and it was lovely. Tagrid at the front desk was especially sweet and helpful. The location is handy too, just 15 minutes from Old Town.

Breakfast was the best part of my stay. There was a big selection, all fresh and tasty, and the eggs and omelettes made to order were a treat. The coffee was just right to start the day. Staff were courteous and attentive throughout. I had a comfortable stay and would highly recommend this hotel, especially for breakfast. Five out of five.
