Diwan Residence Hotel Alsalamah

The coffee machine at breakfast was broken, and the Wi-Fi had some issues, though the hotel was trying to sort them out. The connection worked most of the time and wasn’t too much trouble for us. We’ve stayed here twice now and plan to come back whenever we visit Jeddah. The staff are so welcoming it feels like a second home, and they notice little things that make the stay feel worth more than the price. For this price range, the service is great and it’s the best hotel we’ve found by far. We had a lovely stay.

The location worked well for us, with shops, groceries and restaurants nearby, including McDonald. A taxi from the hotel to Jeddah Airport Terminal 1 cost 30 riyal. We were given a welcome drink and a small fruit basket, and breakfast was good. The room and hotel were clean, and it had a five star feel. They moved us from a twin room to a larger king size room at no extra charge; the king size bed and sofa cum bed were both comfortable. We accidentally went to the Al Naeem branch, but a polite local staff member drove us to the Al Salamah branch. I didn’t catch his name. Thanks to everyone.

We had booked ahead through booking, but when we arrived they said there was no vacancy. After waiting an hour, we were late for a meeting. They put us in a suite, then told us to move back to a room. The Wi-Fi was painfully slow, and I had to call reception about four times before anyone answered. There was no hot water in the shower, so I was freezing. I reported it and they said they would take care of it, but they didn’t. The worst hotel experience.

The rooms are spacious and have all the amenities, and the furniture is new and neat. It’s very clean overall. The parking area is tiny, though, and breakfast doesn’t offer many choices.
