Breakfast was poor, with little variety or quality, and the dining area was dirty like the rest of the hotel. The room itself was dirty too, with an uncleaned carpet, and the whole stay was horrible. There was no hot water, only lukewarm at best, and the shower drain was clogged. The internet was slow and kept cutting out. Noise was constant from the nearby highway and two AC units right below the window. I could hear everything in the neighboring room through the very thin wall and door, which had a gap of about one or two centimeters underneath. The curtains were badly installed and did not block the light. There is no gym: I went to the “sports centre” on the M floor and found construction underway, and reception staff confirmed there was NO GYM at all.

The breakfast was very good, with lots of savory and sweet choices. The hotel sits at the start of the old town, which is a good location, but the place feels scruffy and the service was really poor. We had to call housekeeping twice because there were no towels, and the bedsheet had a hole in the middle. The windows let in a lot of noise, and the air conditioning was loud too. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. That said, choosing a five-star hotel at the Cornice means being surrounded by construction, since half the city is demolished.

The only issue for me was the wardrobe rail. It was set so high that I honestly needed a chair to reach it. Otherwise, the facilities were new, clean, and neat, and breakfast was good during my four-night stay. Thanks to the reception team, Mr. Ahmed, the housekeeping supervisor, and especially Mr. Fathy, who was very professional. I would have rated it five stars if not for that wardrobe problem.

The hotel is decent, but the service is deplorable. More than a couple of staff members were extremely rude and inhospitable, and the working staff had a horrible attitude. The television didn’t work, and there are only 27 irons in the whole hotel. On more than one morning there was no milk, and there was no omelette. Apart from breakfast, no food is offered. If I had another nearby hotel option, I wouldn’t come back. Anyone looking for decent service should stay elsewhere.
