The 40th Pearl Hotel Suites

We chose it for the central location, close to amenities, and stayed for 10 days in May 2023. The reception staff were good and polite, but getting daily basics like soap and towels could be a real chore. Some of the Bengali cleaners could be a bit rude. There was also an ongoing sewage blockage in the two-bedroom place we stayed in. I was told this is common in Saudi Arabia because piped sewage is basically nonexistent. And one floor seemed haunted: every night between 1:30 and 2:30, we heard a child giggling outside our apartment, but couldn't see anyone through the peephole.

The location was a plus, with the airport and some good restaurants nearby. The stay itself at the 40th Pearl Hotel Suites was disappointing, though. I rented a double-bedroom apartment, but it wasn't properly furnished. Even a Yono pen seemed to be needed to keep the drawer shut. There were black spots on the dirty floor, and we arrived to find no toiletries. For our family of four, I asked for towels and got just two, with the explanation that was all they had. When I asked to have the floor cleaned properly, the Bengali cleaner refused. There was an unpleasant dead-rat-like smell at the entrance, and big dust bins outside the building made for a poor welcome. “40th Pearl” sounds luxurious, but the actual accommodation and service fell well short of what I expected.

I arrived late last night, but my booking was still there at this nice, clean hotel. Osid Saleh welcomed me warmly and gave excellent service. He got my bags up to my room promptly so I could settle in, and also pointed me toward some good nearby restaurants. I recommend staying here.

There’s dedicated parking for the hotel, and it’s a nice, clean place in aziziyah.
