The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and quiet, and the breakfast service and courteous housekeeping staff were good. Those are the main reasons I’m giving two stars. Still, the stay left me feeling unwelcome, as if there were no proper management and each staff member was making up their own rules. Booking.com showed a rate of 133 SAR including all fees. When I called the hotel, they quoted 170 SAR and said a Booking.com reservation meant check-in only at 4:00 PM, or an extra 100 SAR for early check-in. I chose to book directly at 170 SAR. Before I arrived, the shift changed, and a female staff member then quoted 190 SAR. I explained that the previous shift had confirmed 170, but she refused, so I had to book at 190. Later that evening I asked the male receptionist for another towel because there were two guests in the room. He said every room came with one towel and they couldn’t provide another. I’ve stayed in more than 40 countries and never encountered such a strange refusal of a basic amenity for the second guest when the booking is clearly for two people. Across more than 170 cities worldwide, I’ve also never had a hotel give such inconsistent, contradictory prices.
