Granada Palace Hotel

The location is great, but everything else was awful. The price isn't justified at all. The room was large, but smelled like a toilet, and water sat in the washroom instead of draining. The bed was so hard that I didn't wake up feeling rested. There were no towels when I got the room. They brought some the next day, but only after I argued with them. There was no cleaning or other service. When I asked why the room hadn't been cleaned, I was told the staff had too much work. The reception staff didn't speak English at all. Whenever I asked for help, they just told me to talk to their boss, then said they didn't know where to find him. I can't recommend this place to anyone.

Room 304 was clean and nice, with a large, very comfortable bed. It also had a kitchenette, small desk, and bathroom. The room was basic for the price: two chairs, a TV, and a desk in a single room rather than separate spaces. A cheaper place with a better layout might make more sense, though this could do if you're in a hurry. The staff were friendly but slow. I'm glad I brought my own towels, since they took four days after I asked, or six days from check-in, to bring any. The booking site listed a washing machine, but there wasn't one in the room. Shower water came with a bad smell, and I don't know why. The street gets busy and noisy at times, so avoid a street-facing room.

The shared area was clean and smelled nice, but that was misleading. Our room looked clean too, yet the bathroom reeked of sewage. You can see the bathroom fan outlet outside, near sewage pipes coming from the hotel rooms. We turned the fan on to clear the odor, but it didn't help. I held my breath to use the bathroom, and the smell made me throw up as soon as I stepped out. We asked to change rooms and were told to wait ten minutes. They then offered a room directly above ours. They had quickly sanitized the bathroom and sprayed air freshener, so it smelled fine when we entered. We stayed less than ten minutes, then left. When we returned that night, the sewage smell was back. The front desk said it was our problem and wouldn't help or refund us. They offered only to send a crew member upstairs to clean and sanitize again. Even that crew member said the bathroom smelled bad. I definitely can't recommend this hotel, especially for the price. This is a serious health problem, and I'll be contacting the Health Ministry.

Muhammad at reception was welcoming and very helpful. He speaks both English and German, and shared local tips with us. The room was spacious and had everything we needed, including a mini kitchen. We stayed two nights, and the value for money was fabulous. I'd definitely recommend the aparthotel and stay again.
