Oyo 249 Al Yamama Palace Al Salam

After spending a whole night there, I was moving my things to yet another room when the attendant made the bed without changing the sheets I'd slept on. I started wondering if someone before me had used them too, without them being cleaned or changed. I couldn't stay out the rest of my booking and decided to find another hotel. In two days I'd already changed rooms three times, and every room had its own problems. The rooms were filthy, facilities were broken, including the air conditioning, TV, and Wi-Fi, and there were insects and a foul sewage smell in the bathrooms. Basic hygiene and tidiness standards weren't met. The service was extremely poor.

I don't recommend this apartment. The bed was in bad shape, with a big crack and a large hole, and the furniture was very ordinary. The microwave was broken, there was no kettle for tea or coffee, and the TV was a single non-smart one in the living room. The doors creaked at the hinges, and some of the poor-quality locks were bent and wouldn't open. The apartment smelled disgusting, and the rose perfume used to cover it was unpleasant and poor quality.

The furniture is old, and nearly all the outlets have two prongs. There was just one three-pronged outlet. Who still uses two-pronged ones in 2022? On arrival I couldn't find the receptionist, so an employee gave me his number. He said he was having dinner when I called about my booking, and at first claimed there was no reservation in my name. After some back and forth he came down and said, "Oh, your reservation arrived half an hour ago," even though I'd booked a day earlier.

The apartment was awful, with terrible service from the Egyptian staff and the cleaning crew. There wasn't even an air conditioner remote, and the chairs were awful too. The prices were exorbitant for such a subpar place. One of the worst hotels, hardly deserves the name.
