Reef Al Malaz Hotel International

The place’s name didn’t match the listing: the hotel was named differently on site than in the booking app. The description was misleading, since there were no toiletries, towels, kettle, or bottled water. Bottles were being sold at higher than usual prices. The room was poor quality with old furniture, unchanged linens, and no slippers, so bring what you need. The AC barely cooled and seemed not to work at all. Customer care and email weren’t working either. It all seemed fake.

The hotel is cheap, but the room was unclean, especially the linen and pillow covers, which seemed to have been left unchanged. There weren’t any toiletries, not even soap, despite the nice photos on the listing. Wi-Fi was free, but nobody offered coffee or tea. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We checked in today, 06-01-2025, and the experience was worse than I can describe. The reviews turned out to be true. It’s listed as a three-star hotel, but in my opinion it doesn’t deserve even one. The online booking calls it REEF ALMALAZ HOTEL, while the sign says MAYON HOTEL. There was no Wi-Fi or heater, no proper housekeeping, and the bedsheets weren’t clean; the pillow was very dirty. The bed itself wasn’t proper, and the place was very dirty, with no bath towel, bucket, soap, shampoo, kettle, or water. There was no safety either. The receptionist didn’t seem to care, and the customer service was even worse. We weren’t given a door key or card, so we couldn’t lock up when going out. When we complained, they said there was no key card and we could leave the door open, with our belongings inside. Please don’t book this hotel.

I don’t see how this hotel is still operating with ministry approval. It was a complete mess and not worth even 100 riyals. The bed and carpet were very dirty, and there were bed bugs on the bed. The water tasted salty, there was no hot water, no three-pin charging outlet, and no accessories were provided.
