I appreciated the clean room and bed, and having an iron meant I could press my clothes at night. I also liked the hallway lights that come on as you walk through. But the hotel feels like a faded version of what it used to be, and maybe the budget isn't enough for the plans they have. The top-floor lounge, which I assume was once used for breakfast and as a restaurant, is permanently closed. Instead, they deliver small boxes to the room that barely count as breakfast, and there's no breakfast area. The ground-floor cafe is shut too. You can sit in its chairs and order coffee from the coffee shop next door. In my room, the bathroom door wouldn't close properly, and the AC only worked with the fan at its highest setting. There was elevator maintenance during my one-night stay. The hotel seemed short-staffed, and reception struggled to have someone there all the time. I'm not angry, just sad about what Verta has become. Maybe I'm wrong and the hotel is still new, but to me it's a place you check into when all the nearby hotels are full.

I reported the Wi-Fi yesterday, and 24 hours later it still hasn't been fixed. Even simple browsing and WhatsApp messages fail. The TV entertainment relies on the same connection, so that doesn't work either, and the kids are frustrated. I'm here for four days and may update this review about other things after checkout. For now, if you need internet while traveling, avoid this hotel.

Verta Hotel alolaya riyadh is a new pre-opening property from Verta hotels & Resort. It has comfortable rooms, a restaurant, spa, and gym, with what looks like an affordable price range for leisure and business guests. Wishing the hotel success as it opens, and I hope to check in soon.
