Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas

The one bright spot was the staff, especially Laxman, who took great care of us and clearly tried to make the stay pleasant. The butler service was helpful and well intentioned, but it couldn’t make up for the property’s broader problems. For the price, the resort fell far short. It’s old and needs major renovation: doors don’t open properly, bathroom and sink drains don’t work well, and one drain even flooded the bathroom. There are signs of wear everywhere, a persistent musty old smell, and squeaky floors that add to the sense that it’s outdated and poorly maintained. The pool area also felt unsafe, with exposed lights and visible wiring, especially for a place calling itself luxury. There’s just one restaurant, the ingredient quality is poor, and the coffee is far below what this price suggests. The resort is very small, with little to do on site, so a longer stay can feel monotonous. It’s significantly overpriced for what it offers. Prices should be cut by at least half. There are many Mahé Island properties at similar prices that are much better for quality, comfort, and value.

The villas look out over beautiful Seychelles beaches and mountains, and the hotel is in a great location. Nady, the villas assistant, made our vacation special in a natural, easygoing way. He sorted out any questions or problems, which didn’t come up often, and arranged several wonderful evening lunches. I also want to thank Hotel Manager Gabrielle Porru for the lovely organization and service. 👏

We chose Anantara Maia for our honeymoon and are so glad we did. We weren’t sure about the “villa host” idea when booking, but that changed as soon as we arrived. Sisca and Ari looked after us, and we couldn’t be more grateful. They were there whenever we needed anything and made the stay truly magnificent and unique. If you’re hesitating, just go and spend a week or more in this heavenly place. Enjoy!

Our room was private, spacious, clean, and had a fantastic view, plus our own pool and an outdoor bath. The hotel was beautiful and the staff were really lovely and accommodating. We spent a wonderful week over New Year, and it didn’t disappoint. Bring mosquito spray. The one thing that could be better was the slow food service, both in the restaurant and to the room. It didn’t affect us too much, and we still had a fantastic time.
