Calm Sorento

The location is a bit up a hill, which could be tricky for some people. Our room was clean and big enough, with a balcony looking out at a scenic view. The staff were friendly, well mannered, and prompt.

The breakfasts on the terrace were a daily treat, with fresh fruit, different egg dishes, and pancakes alongside that wonderful view. The pool area was quiet and well looked after. We left feeling refreshed and grateful for the stay at Calm Sorento. Our balcony looked out over the Indian Ocean, with sunrise, distant waves, and greenery all around. The room was spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully arranged. Its large bathroom had both a shower and a bathtub, just right after a day out. Calm Sorento is in the peaceful hills of Glacis, and the place offered a comfortable mix of Seychellois and Italian hospitality. Housekeeper Shifah and the owners, Luka & Berquitta, were so kind and shared local tips. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, more like guests in a home than customers at a hotel. If you’re after a peaceful retreat with a view and a personal touch, we’d recommend it.

The access ramp is very steep, though manageable. I also think a mosquito net on the bedroom windows could be a good improvement, since the tropical temperature is ideal for sleeping with the windows open instead of running the air conditioning all the time. Shifah’s kindness and honesty made our stay memorable. Breakfast on the terrace was a highlight, with fresh fruit, delicious coffee, and a sweeping ocean view. The calm atmosphere made it easy to disconnect. Waking to the soft light and greenery felt like being in a postcard, and the early mornings and golden sunsets were lovely. We found this bed and breakfast in Sorrento a peaceful escape, and we’re already dreaming of coming back.

Check the location carefully, because Google maps puts Calm Sorento in the wrong place. Search for Calm Sorento B&B and make sure it’s in Glacis. It’s a ten-minute walk to Beau Vallon, where they open a restaurant, but you’ll need a car for other places. Buses go by the house, but they’re tedious and don’t come often, just a few per hour. The owners, an Italian/Seychellois couple, are lovely. The lady even made me pasta while I waited for my taxi when leaving. The staff were great at breakfast and also helped me avoid paying too much for a rental car. They only text out there rooms, so it stays personal and you get to know the other guests. It’s an incredible house, with the owners living downstairs. The room has a kitchen the size of a room, complete with a cooking island, and the bathroom is what you’d expect at the Hilton. They clearly wanted to create something special, since that space could have held four more rooms instead of the kitchen, individual bathrooms, and huge living room opening onto the terrace.
