Hilltop Boutique Hotel

The hotel sits on a small but very steep hill, just as its name suggests. We had an automatic rental car, so getting up there was no trouble, and a beautiful beach is only ten minutes away. We stayed three nights and everything else went smoothly. The staff were helpful, there’s a free water refill station, and they brought extra pancakes at breakfast whenever we asked. Our air conditioner had a small problem on the last night, but they moved us to an upgraded room, so it wasn't an issue. We can definitely recommend Hilltop Boutique Hotel. Greetings from Germany.

The hotel was spotless, with fresh flowers on the tables every day, and our room was cleaned daily too. We rented an automatic car through the hotel and had no complications getting from A to B. The staff were really friendly and helped us whenever something came up. Breakfast for €15 was totally fine: bread, pancakes, little cakes, jam, honey, tea, coffee, and different juices each day. My boyfriend got extra pancakes every morning, which was really nice. The air conditioning stopped working on our last day, but they immediately offered another room and we moved there for our final night. We were really happy with our stay. The extra-friendly Pick Up Service from Mr. Albest (for an additional cost) and the reliable communication helped make this feel closer to 3.5 stars than 3. It’s probably fine for one or two nights. I suspect the high room price reflects the shortage of other hotels in Victoria. The name 'Hilltop' fits. The hotel is a little out of the way, and part of the route climbs steeply, so arriving by car or taxi is a must, even from the harbor. The hotel is clean, and the service is competent and attentive, especially at breakfast. But paying €65 to check out at 1 pm instead of 11 am seemed excessive. When I asked for just one extra hour, they refused, saying they wouldn’t have enough time to clean the room. That didn’t make sense to me: would the time suddenly have been available if I had paid the extra €65? It felt unusual for this price range and not customer-friendly. After 8 pm, nobody is at reception. Guests get an entrance key, but the lighting is so poor that I could only find the lock with my phone flashlight. The room has a QR code that’s meant to explain features such as the TV, though watching the videos requires installing an extra app. The air conditioner instructions are in Japanese. Curtains don't really block the light, so sleeping past 6:30 a.m. is out of the question. As of December 2024, the major construction site behind the hotel also needs mentioning. Work starts at 7:30 a.m., including Saturdays.

Good value, with nice staff, decent rooms, and a good breakfast. The city center is about a 10-minute walk away.
