The landlady was nice, and Maria Rock Cafe nearby serves decent food. Kempinski and 4 Seasons beaches are also only about a 5-10 minute drive away, and they’re good beaches. Those were the few positives for us. The villa felt unpleasantly old, had no A/C, and smelled bad inside. There’s a pig farm close by, so that smell comes around now and then. It’s also quite isolated, though I don’t mind walking a mile or two. Ants, reptiles, mosquitoes and other flying insects kept getting inside, and that was a problem when they started bothering us. I wouldn’t stay here again.

You’re surrounded by nearly untouched nature here, and it’s away from the tourist spots. It’s a lovely choice if nature is what you came for. The host was extremely nice and helpful. If comfort or entertainment matters more to you, though, you might not be happy with the stay.

They quoted € 60 a night, then charged € 180. I booked a place and asked them to wait while we got some questions answered. We were meant to stay on December 14, and on December 18 they took three times the amount from our money. They stole our money. Don’t stay here.

We were on edge all night after two cockroaches scurried around the room and woke us. We were only there for one night, and I’m glad it wasn’t longer. We’d have had to leave. I’ve booked places plenty of times, so when we saw the 9.1 rating on Booking.com, we thought this would work for our last night on the island. Instead, a huge cockroach ran up the wall as soon as we entered. Being surrounded by vegetation seemed like it might explain that, but the whole house was filthy: dead insects on the floor and walls, some dried cockroaches, dusty curtains, very dirty lamps, hair on the countertop and a bathroom bin that hadn’t been emptied. The mosquito nets on the windows were torn, so insects could get in at any moment. The furniture was old and in poor condition, too. I wish I could attach photos so this doesn’t happen to anyone else. It was a terrible experience. We still wonder how the rating got so high. It’s sad to have something like this happen on vacation.
