Acquario Guesthouse

Anse volbert beach is just a two-minute walk away, and Whitetip divers is only a few meters from the guesthouse, which made it a perfect spot for us as divers. Mrs Nora also offered to bring homemade dinner over. It was delicious, especially the fish, and there was more than we could finish in one evening. We stayed at acquario villa and felt very safe. During the Covid situation, we were the only guests, so there was lots of space. Everyone wore masks and kept their distance, and temperatures were checked each morning, as was happening at every hotel then. Mrs Nora, the manager, welcomed us warmly, and the staff were polite and kind. Everything was very clean and had what we needed, including a fully equipped kitchen, a quiet evening balcony, and a very comfortable bed. It isn’t a luxury resort, and some furniture isn’t new, but it was a cozy, peaceful guesthouse. Breakfast was delicious, with more options and different food than at other hotels. It suited us perfectly for relaxing, starting our vacation, and scuba diving on seychelles.

The apartment was roomy, clean, and well equipped, with the handy bonus of two showers and beach towels. Staff were lovely, it was cleaned daily, and the beach is very close.

For three weeks, this clean, spacious apartment had everything we needed, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We liked being close to the beach and dive school, both just a minute away, and being able to swim in the ocean nearby. Cafe des Artes is next door, but we didn’t have to put up with its evening noise.

The late checkout was appreciated on our last day, since our flight wasn’t until late afternoon. Aside from the disorganization and waiting around, the owner did make us feel at home. Perhaps she was simply very laid back, which may be the way of life in Seychelles. We had an annoying start at this otherwise nice guesthouse. We arrived around 3 pm and found the reception empty. After waiting about 15 minutes, we asked another guest how to reach the owner and used the reception phone to call her. She said she was eating lunch, so we waited another 15 minutes for her to finish. She apologized when she came back, saying her diary showed no expected guests. I showed her our booking, and she said she’d check. She found it the next day, so she had completely forgotten about it. The room itself was big and nice. The kitchen and outdoor living area were shared with two other guests. It seemed secure enough, there was a safe for valuables, and the free WiFi was fast, which was a nice change from guesthouses that charge extra. We also liked getting clean beach towels every day. There was no fan or air conditioning in the living area, though, so cooking and eating there got hot. We arranged an island day trip for the following day and called the owner to book it. Once again she was out, and we waited about 30 minutes for her to return. Then she kept us waiting while she finished eating. That was frustrating and made it feel as though our time wasn’t being respected.
