The hotel sits right beside a beautiful river known for salmon fishing, and it’s clean and comfortable. Breakfast is a buffet each morning, and the kitchen will try to accommodate your eating needs. I’ve made good friends among the staff over my two annual trips from the United States, and the service has been world class. I’d stay here whenever I’m visiting this part of Sweden.

The river, rapids, islands, bridges, fishing spots, and jumping salmon make the surrounding nature amazing. The room itself was less impressive: the toilet had an odd, unpleasant smell, and cleanliness wasn’t quite what I’d expect from a Swedish hotel. A lamp above the bed came loose and had to be looked at by a maintenance person, since I couldn’t fix it myself.

The breakfast was very good, and the standard double rooms we had were fairly comfortable. The place is okay to stay in, though a bit dated. We had fun in the games room playing table tennis, and being close to Laxån is a plus. Music can get loud during the summer.

The hotel room looks out on really beautiful scenery, and you get the basic amenities plus breakfast for good value. Alvkarbley is surrounded by forest and feels like the middle of nowhere, so the hotel seems like heaven in that setting.
