Buustamons Fjällgård

As usual, we found it hard to leave after stopping in for lunch while skiing. What a gem. Great service and food. We had the Fjällklämma, Carrot soup with Chili and Pasta Bolognese, all great. With the service and location, it was worth the price. We'll come back whenever we can.

Lunch was good value, with excellent mushroom pasta and a vegetarian salad. Dinner cost more, and the vegetarian option wasn't as good, though the other diners seemed happy. We ate both meals here during our week, and for dinner they drove us up in a military snow wagon for a three-course meal. The setting was lovely.

Buustamons Fjällgård is a cozy lodge with beautiful wilderness views. There's a wide choice of Swedish dishes, and I'd definitely recommend stopping to eat while hiking or skiing in the Åre mountains, in summer or winter.

The burger was a poor prefab patty, and the beer was overpriced: 105 sek for a can when you can get a pint of the same beer at the gondola station for 84. Avoid this place unless you're starving. Service was horrendous. I had booked for four, then cancelled when we joined friends at their table for three, saving the busy restaurant a place. After we sat down, they told us to leave because we'd been at the table for an hour. I'll never come back.
